Today Top Banana launched our 2019 Christmas campaign #thegiftofgiving…it may not compete with John Lewis or Sky, but we’re pretty proud of it.

I think we can all agree that one of the best things about Christmas time is the food…Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, endless amounts of chocolate treats, mince pies and of course the boxing day buffet. But for too many people in the UK, Christmas is a time of hunger. The harsh reality is that more than 14 million people are living in poverty – including 4.5 million children.

Here at Top Banana we want to make a difference. We may not be able to stop hunger in the UK this Christmas, but we sure are trying our best to provide food to as many people as possible. How? Well, by giving our employees and clients boxes of absolutely NOTHING.

Our gift this year is ‘the gift of giving’ encouraging our employees and clients to fill their empty boxes with food donations – this can be anything from a tin of soup to a packet of biscuits. They then just have to donate it to their local food bank, many of which were less than 5 miles from their place of work. We found out each client’s nearest food bank by using The Trussell Trust’s food bank finder, a charity who supports a nationwide network of over 1,200 food banks in the UK.

It may just start as an empty box, but if everyone worked together to fill them, these boxes could help feed hundreds of people this Christmas. To follow our campaign, check out our hashtag on social media #thegiftofgiving.
