Over Christmas 2019, we launched #TheGiftofGiving initiative. Instead of sending corporate gifts to our clients and suppliers, we chose to send them a big box of… nothing!
The idea behind the initiative was for them to rally together and fill the box with donations for their local foodbank to help feed hundreds of people who go hungry over the festive period – and what a response we had!
Over a 3-week period leading right up to Christmas, our clients and suppliers all over the UK donated invaluable amounts of food, toiletries and other essentials to their local foodbanks and in turn we have tallied that over 1 tonne of food was donated.
Top Banana employees alone gave over 300kg of food and essentials to our local foodbank in Kidderminster, who commented
“Thank you again for the wonderful boxes of goodies. We have been able to pass some of the boxes on to another Foodbank who deliver boxes of food to families in the Wyre Forest, and the Baxter College who were doing their own boxes for the families of children who attend the school and needed help this Christmas. So, we are sharing out all the lovely food as far as we can this Christmas.”

Having sent out over 60 boxes to clients and suppliers, we couldn’t be happier with the amount of positive response’s we’ve had. As an agency we always aim to work with companies who have values similar to our own – and this campaign really proved that they do. Jessica Badminton, Senior Event Manager at Quilter Financial Planning who received one of our boxes stated:
“At the time of year when giving is so pertinent, Top Banana have produced an incredible initiative to give to those not as lucky as most of us. Sacrificing the all-too-common advent calendars and notebooks (which we love too), they’ve given their clients the possibility of donating food and toiletries to their local food bank. And knowing we’re a busy bunch, they’ve even taken all of the hard work out of it, by providing us with the box and details of our nearest drop off point. A genius idea to get the whole office involved – great work Top B team!”
Another of our clients commented:
“At this time of year, I often receive gifts, generally pens, calendars etc. This has to be the best gift I’ve ever received from a supplier for its pure selflessness. The fact you are willing to forgo the initial free advertising to highlight something much more beneficial and important is a true credit to you and your company. Well done!”

We’ve been overwhelmed with the support the campaign has received, even with people who didn’t receive the campaign, but saw the initiative, and choosing to take part anyway. So a huge thank you to those who supported the campaign and made a difference to those most vulnerable this Christmas.
