#EventWell18

Did you know that at least one in six workers experience common mental health problems, including anxiety and depression? Mental health can be a real taboo subject in the work place, but we want to help break the stigma, which is why in May this year we signed the Time to Change pledge the growing social movement run by charities Mind and Rethink Mental Illness which supports people to open up to mental health problems.

Mental Health Awareness Schemes are a priority for us at Top Banana, and we love seeing others in the events industry who also have this mindset. As with any job, we’re sure we can all relate to a form of work place stress. That’s why we need to talk about it and as a business, have practices in place that help those who are struggling.

So this week we are supporting and taking part in #EventWell18 Week and are making everyday about, well, ourselves!

Event Well was set up with a goal of creating tangible change to the the Event Industry’s relationship with well being, whilst de-stigmatising mental health in the workplace. Following a very successful 2017, Event Well have set up their #EventWell18 Week that focuses on looking after ‘you and yours’; taking care of ourselves which will in turn allow us to focus on our close relationships. To support this awesome idea, here at Top Banana we’re hosting activities everyday this week to promote self care and de-stressing at work! From Monday to Friday we will be removing negativity from our vocabulary, eating lunch together, going for walks, and much more. All as a vow to consider well-being in our every day practices.

These activities may only be taking place this week, but the ideas behind them are something that we want to implement into our everyday working lives. This is why we have come up with our ‘5 T’s’ poster which we keep internally as a reminder and guide on how to step away during stressful times. The T’s are simple actions and solutions that can we can do at work every day if needed, which will simply allow us to take a step back, breathe and re-calibrate when things get tough.

Take a look at out poster and see if there’s anything you could do to build these considerations into your day to day activities; and lets talk about mental health together and make our working environments open and safe places for discussion.
